HUD Secretary Announces Disaster Relief for Alaska

Services and financial assistance to be provided to rebuild after Typhoon Halong.

U.S. Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Scott Turner announced that Alaska will now have access to federal disaster assistance following the impacts of Typhoon Halong. Western Alaska was hit by the typhoon between October 8-13, experiencing hurricane-force winds, major flooding, and severe damage to infrastructure. President Trump issued a major disaster declaration for the state of Alaska on October 22, 2025.

Federal assistance will provide extensions and financial flexibility across housing, mortgage, and loan programs. The department has ensured that housing counseling agencies are available to assist, and will also provide support for residents if they face relocation challenges.

“HUD serves every American and works alongside communities to help rebuild homes, neighborhoods, and businesses after severe storms,“ Secretary Turner stated. “To support Alaskans during this time of need, HUD is providing financial flexibility and disaster recovery resources to affected communities.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Turner as he facilitates the provision of relief from the impacts of Typhoon Halong.
  • For federal, state, and local officials as they coordinate resources to support recovery efforts.
  • For the Alaskan residents affected by this natural disaster.
